HESS delivers technical and advisory work across agriculture, water, environment and community resilience. We plan with data, we build in the field, and we train local people to keep it running.
Commercial Horticulture and Vegetable Production
We design and run market-focused vegetable production. This covers greenhouse and open-field growing, site selection, soil improvement, nursery and propagation, crop planning and integrated pest management. We have built 15 greenhouses and grown carrot, cucumber, cabbage, beetroot, tomato and bell pepper in Somali conditions.
Irrigation and Water Management
We assess water sources and design efficient systems, including drip irrigation and water harvesting. We install, test and commission the system, then train the people who will operate and maintain it.
Integrated Natural Resource Management (INRM)
We specialize in developing holistic, community-led management models for shared natural resources to mitigate degradation and conflict. Our INRM approach ensures sustainable resource use and improves governance for long-term productivity.
Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Building
We build local capacity to confront and overcome the challenges of climate change and recurrent shocks (drought and flooding). Our services move beyond crisis response to implement durable solutions for sustainable livelihoods.
Environmental and Social Safeguards (ESS)
HESS provides technical expertise to ensure that large-scale development projects comply with national regulations and international standards (e.g., World Bank, UN). We specialize in risk mitigation and policy alignment for fragile contexts.
Technical Survey, Design, and Documentation
Our engineering team provides high-precision surveying, design, and analysis services necessary for infrastructure development and land-use planning. We deliver the accurate, georeferenced data required for reliable construction and informed decision-making.
